  • Elipse: a Cisco Small Business Partner Case Study
    true
Happy Friday folks! The Toronto Raptors are the NBA World Champions, the St. Louis Blues have won the Stanley Cup for the first time, and Rafael Nadal won the French Open. Day 2 is underweigh at Pebble Beach for the 119th US Open. What are your plans for Father’s Day here in the U.S.? I know what is in-store for me on Sunday! I have a treat for you today. I met a fantastic partner located in Minas Gerais, Brazil a while back. I had seen an Instagram post that tagged our @CiscoBusiness account. From there, we talked, discussed and finally had a quick webex meeting. I asked Bruno to tell me a little about his company and share some pictures. What I didn’t know was that I was going to get a fantastic story and background behind this young man’s business. I think you will enjoy his story and journey. Remember his native language is Portuguese. “My name is Bruno, I’m 29, electronics engineer, started studying IT when I was 10, when a friend of mine gave me a 386 laptop and several books. I’ve been working in IT professionally since the age of 15. I work as an IT consultant in a small town located in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. I take care of several IT infrastructures of small businesses here including Helpdesk, troubleshooting, computer network projects etc. I’ve also been part of NBC’s technical team during Rio 2016 Summer and PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. Elipse’s lab, in Bom Despacho, Minas Gerais, Brazil. I’ve previously worked at a local computer shop for many years, when I finally decided to start my own business. I started fixing computers in my bedroom, after a few months I needed to disassemble my own bed to get more space for equipment and slept in a mattress on the floor for a while. After that, I moved my “business” to the living room, the customer quantity was increasing. I’ve been there for sometime while I was saving money to build an office. That was literally built from zero. After working a lot and saving some money I’ve finally finished the construction and moved to my current place, small but comfortable and equipped to work and meet my customers. About the Cisco Small Business Equipment:I always appreciated Cisco Small Business equipment. They are robust and reliable. The thing I always tell my… Read more »

Our team headed by Brad Sakai will be joined by AVP of Product Management, Patrick Albert next Wednesday to discuss new features presented by Cisco/Auvik. So without further adieu, here you go: Knowing the current warranty and software status of your clients’ network devices can help you generate revenue by upgrading old gear and software, but getting that information has traditionally involved looking up serial numbers one by one. Join Patrick Albert, AVP, Product Management at Auvik and Brad Sakai, Sr. Product Line Manager at Cisco for a one-hour webinar outlining how you can use this unprecedented visibility to find devices that are ticking time bombs on client sites. Get Network Device Warranty & Software Status Automatically with Auvik & Cisco May 15, 2019 | 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PST You’ll walk away understanding why it’s vital to know whether your clients’ network devices are out of date—and unprotected. • Weekly Wrap: Cisco Live 2018
    true
The Holidays are upon us. I hope you have at least started on the gift acquisition project. Remember, shop small… Last week we were in Cancun for Cisco Live Latin America. It was an amazing experience. Every day we had various scheduled and unscheduled partner meetings. It was good to put a face to the countless people I have been working with over the past few years. Many, heard I was there and made it over to give me a high five and hug. I tell you, it was a special experience and I will not soon forget. The event started Tuesday night, and ended Friday. Sadly we missed Juanes as we had to get home. Felipe tells the world about the new Cisco RV160W and RV260W We had tons of new friends come by and marvel at the product we brought to show. We brought a fair amount of product to show including the new RV160 and RV260 models. I had four of the five models there on hand and we actually gave a few away to some lucky new friends. Yes, they we are very happy. All thought we were joking. All of the RV160 and RV260 models got alot of attention from everyone, including our Channel, Distribution, and Service Provider friends. We were lucky to have Felipe Gonzalez who is the Commercial Director for Mexico come to the booth and do two live social media posts launching the new RV160 and RV260 models. I tell you, I was kind of pumped, me being the Product Manager for these new models. Many got super close to these new models, but it really wasn’t until I handed these purpose-built VPN models and got them in their hands that they realized that we had done something very special. The comments received ranged from, “wow!, ah SFP! to these feel great!” Most said that the gear felt sturdy and brought that feeling of value and quality. They should, but I am biased. Once we told them that these have a new dual-core processor, a new user interface, FindIT Support, and can be deployed without pre-staging or pre-configuring, I had them. Back it up with FindIT and the best in-class warranty and support, and it is a package tough to beat. One of the best moments for me personally was when I was walking back to the booth and saw a gentleman… Read more »

  • Weekly wrap up: New RV Series, Cisco Live Cancun and more
    true
It is finally Friday! It has been another long week here for our team. Productive as usual, but long nonetheless. How was your week? The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs will now meet Monday night in Los Angeles instead of Mexico City. It is a shame, but the game will pit two great teams that are currently 9-1. The Tennis and Golf Tours are winding down for the year. It has been a long year, but the start is just a couple of months away in January. Lebron James and our Los Angeles Lakers continue to improve in the intense Western Conference, but on the down-low, The Los Angeles Clippers are 9-5 and in 4th place. Our local ski/snowboard season is now under weigh in Southern California and Mammoth Mountain, as well as some areas in Colorado and Utah. Any ski trip planned? We sure hope to get up there soon! News: Our team will be at Cisco Live in Cancun the first week of December! We will have an area in the World of Solutions. If you are planning on being there, please stop by and say Hola! We will be showing off our new RV160 and RV260 VPN Models, the new 250 and 350/350X Switch Models, as well as the new WAP581 and WAP125 that now have an Umbrella integration. Of course we will be showing Cisco FindIT Networking platform! We will have folks who speak Espanol in the booth with us so we can speak with everyone. Juanes We cannot wait for the show. We are already setting up meetings, dinners and other activities now. World-famous Juanes headlines the Customer Appreciation Event on Friday! I am sure Friday night will be a night to remember. As you may have heard, I launched five new Cisco RV Series Models last month. There is a product blog I did while back that covers these awesome products, but I thought I would highlight one of them. The Cisco RV260W Wireless-AC VPN Router is a dynamic performer that can be deployed in a variety of scenarios. Like all of our Cisco Small Business networking products, it is purpose-built for it’s market, Small Business. A perfect choice for any home office, retail, market, restaurant, coffee house, surfshop, branch, or doctor’s office. I am sure we can think of another 20 businesses and deployments this unit fits well! The RV260W offers… Read more »
  • Cisco Small Business Team Updates: New RV160 and RV260 Models, FindIT PODS and new FindIT Probe Version 1.1.4
    true
Hello everyone! Things have been a little crazy around here the last few weeks. But before we head in that direction, we are in November! Halloween is past us, the Holidays are almost upon us. Our Dodgers were no match for the Red Sox in the World Series. The Lakers with some guy named Lebron James are off to a decent start. The Los Angeles Rams are off to a wonderful 8-0 sitting at the top of the NFC West. The LA Kings are in last while the Anaheim Ducks are 5-6. Tennis is wrapping up the 2018 season, and PGA Tour is at the TPC Summerlin for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children Cup. The LPGA is in Japan for the Toto Japan Classic. And lastly, the crew at Mammoth Mountain are blowing snow in anticipation of the start of the season next week. Product Ad: Go to Cisco.com to see our latest wide tile ad of the new Rv340W with something new on the bezel. New Models: Last week I announced general availability of the new RV260 and RV160 Models. If you haven’t already read the blog, please give it a quick read and check out the product pages. For more information beyond our product pages, please send us a note at ask-small@cisco.com. Cisco Small Business FindIT PODS: I have asked our Cisco FindIT Product Manager, David Harper to explain what these PODS are and explain why these are so important for us, for you, our channel partners and customers. Here is Dave: Interest in FindIT Network Manager has been growing by leaps and bounds, and we have been doing demonstrations on a weekly basis.  After doing dozens of demos and presentations, I can tell you it is much easier to see the value of FindIT by showing a live demo rather talking about it through a PowerPoint slide deck.  Recently, we realized that while we have several demonstration networks with FindIT running at Cisco, not all of our partners are able to have a dedicated demonstration environment running.  This is a problem because it is hard for you all to show the value of FindIT to your customers. Therefore, I am excited to announce that we have created the FindIT Partner Online Demonstration Service (PODS) – a free service for Cisco partners! FindIT PODS are online instances of FindIT Network Manager along with Cisco Small Business hardware running… Read more »
